I found out about this through Phanee from funny wool and is hosted by Heather at Proud Book Nerd. I thought it looked quite fun so this month, I shall be doing a post every day (except Sundays) where I shall tell you about amazing authors that have surnames beginning with that letter. I hope you enjoy and tell me if you know any more with that letter and I'll add it to the post! Thanks.

Patrick Ness

I actually love and cherish this guy. He is also one of the nicest authors I have met. I met him last year at a book launch for 'Losing It' in which he had contributed a mini-story to. I was introduced to his books by two of my best friends who being reading junkies like me, told me about them and REALLY recommended them - like 'Read now or we will hate you' recommendation. So I did. I had seen the books but I had never approached them - they looked too boyish and action packed for my girly liking. Anyway I'm glad I did. I fell in love with the characters, the setting, the story - everything. They are the type of books people I know kind of see and walk away from, not sure what they're like. But READ THEM if you see them. He makes you love Todd and Viola. Hate the Mayor and the other baddies. He makes you sad, happy, angry in one book and he writes really well and like Todd or Viola is talking directly to you. My friends and I all agreed that he makes you feel like their characters are your personal friends and you're going through the plot with them. And that's what I love about reading books.

The Sky Is Everywhere Paperback Cover

Through Twitter, I found out that The Sky Is Everywhere is being released soon on Paperback with this cover:

It's not as amazing as I thought the hardback cover (and the one that I own) is but I like it. It's different and if you read the book, you will know that the this picture on the front actually is included in the story. The words 'One boy helps her remember. The other lets her forget' is nice and really does summarise her relationships with the two guys in this book. I hope they include the illistrations/photos of the poem's Lennie writes as this did add to the book and was so interesting to read and look at. If they didn't, I think I would personally be disappointed.

This book is worth a read to anyone reading this who hasn't read it before.

The Sky Is Everywhere - Jandy Nelson


 I have been waiting for this book since the beginning of August. For a reminder of wanting-ness, click here :) So. You can imagine my excitiment when I finally got my hands on this frankly amazing book. I must have looking so stupid on the bus clutching this book to me:
Me (drops book): Oh no. Come back! Don't leave me pleeeeease!
Enough said.

That's all I'm saying about the book. I was thinking about how to put it on here and I thought. You can't explain what happens without ruining some of the novel. And that is why the blurb on the back is a load of questions.

I absolutely loved this book. If there is only one book you should read this year, it should be this one. And I don't say that often. This book was meant to be a verse book but turned into a novel. Jandy Nelson is a published poet and it comes out in the book a lot. The book is so beautifully written, it made me want to read it even more. There are some 'moments', you may know what I mean...though unlike many people think it really doesn't bother me. I mean it will happen to me eventually won't it?
This may seem like such a short review for a book I seem to absolutely love (WHICH I DO!) but I'm seriously trying not to ruin it for anyone out there.
One piece of advice though: Read it. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. My favourite thing of the novel was that at most chapters there are Lennie's poems. It's just such a different and original book. The fact the actual book is different, the way it's written and the poems added in. Ah. LOVE IT.
Also. She's been compared to Sarah Dessen. Another AMAZING AUTHOR. Sorry. Just read it. You'll see what I mean. :)
